This is the marriage certificate for Bernard Falkowski of Trenton, New Jersey and Agnes B. Hannigan of the Bronx, New York. Agnes appears in the 1900 US Census of her aunt, Mary Ellen /Hannigan/ Haring. By 1910, the Haring family had moved to Hamilton Township in the Trenton area of New Jersey. Agnes does not appear in the 1905 New York Census report with the Haring family, nor does she appear in the 1910 US Census report for Hamilton Township, New Jersey with the Haring family.
Interesting thing is the address for Agnes B Hannigan is the address of her grandmother, Katherine Hannigan. Also interesting is the witness of the marriage is her uncle, John J. HanniGan. The use of the capital ‘G’ in his signature was a family trademark of my great-grandfather.
The certificate and record indicates that the parent’s names for Agnes was ‘Not Known’ at the time of her marriage.
Bernard and Agnes were married at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church located on College Avenue in the Bronx. St. Rita’s was located between 145th and 146th street, about five blocks north of the address of her grandmother.
After they were married, Bernard and his bride returned to Trenton to set up their home. Several years later, Bernard changes his surname from Falkowski to Schultz. If this happened before or after the birth of his two daughters has not been determined yet. But we continue to research this limb of our family tree and hope to be able to connect it eventually.
